Gearhart Elementary School Vice Principal Organization: Klamath County School District
The school Vice Principal serves as one of the educational leaders, responsible for teaching K-6 students, managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised and taught in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school district. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school Vice Principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. The vice principal must have strong commitments to his/her own professional development.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
Assist with managing, evaluating and supervising effectively and procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations.
Teach K-6 students.
Assist with interpretation and administration of programs, philosophy and policies of the state and the district to the staff, students, and the community at large.
Assist the principal as the instructional leader of the school.
Establish and maintain channels for communication and interaction between administration, staff, students and parents.
Act as a liaison between the school and the community interpreting activities and policies of the school, and encouraging community participation in school life.
Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring and assigning of certified and classified staff.
Assist in developing and administering a system dealing with student discipline that will ensure each student an equal right to learn.
Assume responsibility for the safety of building employees and administration of school facilities.
Assume responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.
Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be required to ensure an educational program that is beneficial to all students.
Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public.
Organize the school to ensure the safe operation for students and staff.
Ensure that high quality instruction takes place in all classrooms every day.
Other duties as assigned by Principal and/or the Superintendent.

COMPENSATION:
210 day contract

Salary range: $102,692.33-117,692.33/Annual
6% PERS paid by District
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold or qualify for appropriate Oregon Administrative License and valid Oregon Teaching License.
Minimum five years’ experience as an educator.
A clear vision of the school instruction program; understanding school issues.
Ability to lead school improvement efforts informed by data that produce high achievement results.
Strong communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents and the community.
Effective management of school operations to support teaching and learning.
Understanding of effective educational programming, including English language development, talented and gifted, and special education.
Expertise in personnel selection, management, evaluation, and staff development.
Strong fiscal manager; ability to marshal limited resources to meet student and school needs.
Previous administrative and athletic director experience preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with recent changes in Teacher Evaluation Systems.
Facilitator of ideas; ability to articulate and develop a shared vision within the school community.
Ability to create and foster a safe, student-centered culture where high expectations and learning is valued.
Understanding of the role of instructional technologies.
Supporter of extracurricular programs and activities.
Experience in working with a diverse student body.
Must be willing to lead school level committees and initiatives and assist on district level committees.

Gearhart Elementary School is located in Bly, Oregon and has a current student enrollment of 23 in grades K-6.
