American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with an active AZ or compact license and strong critical care skills for a Multi Care Unit position.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in an acute care Multi Care Unit with combined ICU, PCU, and Med Surg acuities
  • Unit includes 10 beds with RN ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, Med Surg 1:5-6, primary care 1:3 if no nurse aide
  • Care for patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory arrest, COVID, DKA, and post-op complications
  • RNs are expected to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
  • RT equipment including vents, BiPap, and Cpap is used on the unit
  • Remote Monitor Techs provide telemetry support; RNs must read cardiac strips and perform 12-lead EKGs
  • 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend requirement
  • Holiday rotation required for fair coverage
  • First to float, with potential floating to EC MST, pediatrics (for adult care), and West Campus ICU/PCU; two-hour notice provided before floating
  • Cerner EMR system is used for documentation
  • RNs provide care for mixed acuity adult patients within a single unit, including managing complex ICU, PCU, and Med Surg cases
  • Charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, PEDS, and MCU
  • RNs must complete hospital and unit orientation as scheduled
  • Mandatory holiday rotation to assure equitable staffing during holidays
  • Scrubs in any color except camouflage are permitted
  • Failure to pass required exams on the second attempt results in ineligibility for future assignments at CommonSpirit facilities in AZ or Sacramento region for six months
  • May float to other adult units or campuses based on staffing needs

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 1 year ICU plus 1 year PCU/Med Surg experience from a larger facility may be acceptable with strong skills
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (two attempts allowed)
  • RNs must be able to titrate IV drips and manage ventilated patients
  • Candidates may not have worked as a full-time, part-time, or PRN employee at any CommonSpirit facility within the past year
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Required to provide a copy of driver’s license for consideration
  • Recent professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
