NJ Advance Media is looking for a Commerce Writer to cover online shopping deals as part of our growing affiliate revenue department.

This person will write stories about the latest sales and best deals from popular merchants such as Amazon and Walmart, as well as provide readers with recommendations across a range of product categories and verticals, including home, fashion, travel, and tech.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to help readers discover great deals and products, understands the importance of SEO, can write multiple articles daily, and is motivated to generate significant and sustainable revenue through content. h

This is an editorial position on our Content Innovation team that is part of the NJ.com newsroom. The role is during standard business hours, with the exception being major shopping events such as Prime Day and Black Friday.

This position pays between $50,000 - $60,000 annually. This position may be remote.

What you'll be doing:

• Help inform readers in all phases of their shopping journey, from browsing to researching to buying
• Pitch ideas, write stories, and curate content that includes best deals, lists of sales, "where to buy" guides, "how-to" explainers, and product reviews and recommendations
• Employ best practices in SEO and use data from our available tools to guide decisions so content can reach large audiences and generate revenue
• Track analytics and key metrics to ensure content is performing as expected
• Use social media to source content
• Collaborate with other commerce writers and editors

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

• Degree in Journalism, English or communications, or related field, or a combination of equivalent education and/or work experience
• Minimum 2 years' journalism experience, ideally in commerce writing, affiliate marketing or revenue-generating initiatives
• Knowledge of SEO best practices, including Google Discover
• Clean writing copy and the confidence to self-edit, plus a solid understanding of news writing and story structure
• A competitive nature and mindset
• Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately
• Ability to work weekends when necessary (e.g. Black Friday)
