This position is within the National Security Sector’s Capture Excellence team, which supports Leidos’ most strategic bids across the sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, multi-talented individual to make an immediate impact to high-priority proposals.

The Senior Proposal Writer will lead development of clear, compliant, and compelling proposal sections and volumes. The writer will work directly with Capture Executives, Solution Architects, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define, elicit, and communicate win strategy and technical, management, transition, and experience solutions. The successful candidate must possess the ability to identify needed content to respond to requirements and score against evaluation criteria, as well as the ability to work with highly technical concepts (e.g., software development, cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, data analytics). The individual must have the ability to work independently with a strong sense of pride in developing quality written documents in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

This position will be hybrid, with some telework and work onsite at facilities in the DC Metro area when required for proposal efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interview Solution Architects and SMEs to document concepts, write responses, and articulate solutions, translating complex concepts into easily understandable text.

  • Collaborate with Capture Managers, Solution Architects, Program Managers, and Volume Leads to drive development of proposal responses and ensure written responses align with proposal requirements.

  • Take ownership of assigned volumes, driving development and leading supporting writers to meet deadlines and develop quality written responses.

  • Actively participate in team solutioning sessions to elicit and articulate solution, strategy, approach to performing the work, experience, win themes, and discriminators.

  • Incorporate comments from multiple sources into documents, adjudicate comments from reviewers, and track status of reviewer comments.

  • Write clear, compliant, compelling, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to help improve proposal quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of professional experience or Master’s Degree with 6+ years of experience.

  • 5 years of experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and basic understanding of SharePoint repositories.

  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Strong work ethic and desire to excel and keep growing over time.

  • Evidence of a successful track record of high-quality, high-scoring proposals.

  • Demonstrated success writing and leading technical, management, transition, staffing, and/or corporate experience & past performance volumes for complex efforts.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Due to nature of the role, U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Desired Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience working in a competitive Federal Government proposal environment.

  • Experience with traditional video, live orals, and/or demonstration proposals.

  • Ability to coach and instruct others to facilitate consistency across multiple authors.

Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
