We are seeking a Public Affairs Manager to play a critical role in engaging with external stakeholders to enhance public safety in our communities. Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs, this role will focus on collaborating with cross-functional partners to engage with local elected officials, grassroots/grasstops organizations, and community leaders. You will represent Flock Safety externally, help build credibility across a variety of public affairs audiences, develop meaningful partnerships, and elevate the voices of our customers to help advance our strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and skilled communicator who thrives in complex landscapes, excels at relationship-building, and is passionate about amplifying Flock Safety’s mission and impact.
This role will cover the Central United States and should be based in a state on Central Standard Time or Mountain Standard (Texas, Illinois, etc).
The Skillset
Previous experience in the tech industry preferred
Public policy, business, or other relevant degree/experience
Direct experience engaging with public affairs audiences at the local executive level (mayor, council member, city manager level), including on the campaign trail, in an advocacy role, or in local government
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment
Self-starter; intrinsically motivated
Has a knack for clear communication on complex topics, both to experts and laypeople, in a variety of formats, from writing to community engagement to giving formal presentations.
A keen understanding of regional political landscape at the city and county level

Stakeholder Review : Analyze the current landscape of law enforcement partners, community stakeholders, and elected officials in your territory.
Training Sessions : Schedule and attend training on Flock's solutions to ensure you can articulate the benefits to local stakeholders confidently.
Goal Setting : Establish clear objectives for building relationships with local officials and stakeholders.
The First 60 Days
Community Engagement : Start cultivating relationships with elected officials and staff at the county and municipal levels in your market.
Thought Leadership : Represent Flock at city council meetings and conferences to educate officials about our technology and its advantages for community safety.
Relationship Building : Develop partnerships with influential local organizations and activist groups to enhance community trust and support.
Regulatory Advocacy : Identify and engage in local government affairs and public policy discussions to promote a favorable regulatory environment.
90 Days & Beyond
Ownership of the Narrative : Establish yourself as the face of Flock among local elected officials, cultivating your role as a knowledgeable and trusted resource.
Community Trust Initiatives : Launch initiatives that foster collaboration with community organizations and build lasting trust with the public.
Driving Business Development : Play a key role in unlocking new business opportunities in your territory through strategic partnerships and education.
Feedback Loop : Gather insights from partners and community stakeholders to inform Flock’s public policy objectives and future offerings.
Lead Activations : Drive activations aimed at advancing our government affairs and public policy goals, reinforcing Flock's commitment to community safety.

The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
In this role, the salary range is $124,000 - $156,000 as well as stock options and bonus potential. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
