Job Summary

The Prospect Research Manager will play a vital role in advancing Maharishi International University’s (MIU) fundraising efforts by identifying, researching, and managing high-capacity donor prospects. This individual will develop data-driven strategies to support the Development Office’s major gift initiatives, ensuring the effective use of resources and alignment with MIU’s mission. This role will leverage advanced research techniques and work collaboratively to create and maintain a pipeline of major gift prospects that support the university’s ambitious goals.

1. Prospect Research and Analysis

• Conduct in-depth research to identify and qualify prospective donors with high capacity and affinity for MIU’s mission.
• Utilize databases, public records, and advanced research tools to gather information on donor wealth, philanthropic history, and areas of interest.
• Analyze and synthesize data to create detailed prospect profiles and actionable insights for the Development Office.

2. Portfolio Management

• Develop and manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects for major and transformational gifts.
• Work closely with gift officers, including the VP of Development, to prioritize prospects.
• Ensure prospect assignments are aligned with the strategic goals of the university and updated as needed.

3. Data-Driven Strategy Development

• Leverage CRM (Bloomerang) data and analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in donor engagement.
• Collaborate with the marketing team and other development staff to design targeted engagement strategies based on prospect insights.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to prospect management, ensuring transparency and accountability.

4. Collaboration and Coordination

• Partner with the Marketing and Donor Engagement Specialist to integrate data-driven strategies into donor communication plans.
• Support the VP and alumni relations team by identifying potential prospects for specific campaigns and initiatives.
• Actively contribute to weekly strategy meetings with senior development staff to ensure alignment and collaboration.

5. Process Improvement

• Refine and streamline prospect research and portfolio management processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
• Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging trends in prospect research and major gift fundraising.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in prospect research, donor relations, or portfolio management in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
• Strong proficiency with CRM systems (experience with Bloomerang preferred) and prospect research tools (e.g., iWave, WealthEngine).
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
