GIS / CAD Operator I

Employment Type:  Contract through 05/15/2026 (High potential for extension)

Location:  Grand Rapids, MI 49548

Work Schedule:  Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)

Position Summary:

 The GIS / CAD Operator I will be responsible for inputting low-voltage electric design work orders into a GIS mapping system, supporting the company’s efforts in maintaining accurate and up-to-date electric distribution data. This hybrid role requires the operator to work both on-site and remotely, collaborating with internal teams and customers to ensure quality and timely project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Input low-voltage electric design work orders into a GIS mapping system.
• Interpret electric design orders, as-built information, and field data for integration into GIS software.
• Maintain and update existing GIS data to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical support as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for team members and the public.
• Maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other technical records as necessary.
• Assist with the training of co-workers and collaborate with teams to achieve project objectives.
• Promote an open exchange of information, maintaining professionalism, ethical standards, and cooperation.
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and meeting deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a related field, or 0-2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Windows XP or later, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a group environment.
• Interest in learning new skills, systems, and procedures.
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
• Proficiency in using CAD/GIS software for interpreting and inputting data.
