About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Content Officer to lead the strategic and artistic vision for its diverse content areas, including exhibitions, public and educational programs, and collections. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic and immersive museum experience that resonates with a wide range of audiences. This role involves overseeing the development of all content, from conception to execution, and ensuring that it aligns with the organization's mission and values. The Chief Content Officer will also be a key member of the executive management team, working closely with the director and other leaders to set and manage budgets and to foster productive relationships with the Board and external stakeholders. Applicants for the Chief Content Officer position at the company should be visionary, collaborative, and experienced leaders with a strong background in the curatorial, arts, design, academic, or media fields. The role requires a proven track record in creative strategy and management, as well as the ability to inspire and mentor a team. A deep knowledge of and passion for New York City history, arts, popular culture, and/or urban planning is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a high degree of emotional intelligence, and the ability to engage in thought leadership within the industry. A Ph.D. or advanced degree related to the museum's mission is also strongly preferred.
