We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Classroom Teacher - Certified Special Education to join our team. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while also requiring in-person attendance in Phoenix twice per month for meetings and professional development. Role Overview:
As the Classroom Teacher - Certified Special Education, you will work under the guidance of the Campus Director to manage a caseload of middle school students (grades 6-8) with diverse learning needs. Your main responsibilities will include preparing and delivering lesson plans, assessing and monitoring student progress, and ensuring all students are meeting their individual educational goals. You will collaborate with a supportive team to implement and adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with various learning abilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with other related disorders. A key part of this role is working with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops and classroom coaching to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of special education.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee your caseload of students in the online classroom, providing instructional support and guidance.
Create and implement engaging weekly lesson plans using curriculum resources aligned with the
Academic Program.
Analyze student progress and curriculum data on a bi-weekly basis to inform instructional decisions.
Maintain regular communication with students and their families to track progress, share updates, and provide support as needed.
Modify instructional materials and resources to meet the unique needs of each student in your classroom.
Collaborate with other staff members to plan, organize, and implement effective teaching strategies.
Prepare substitute plans and ensure continuity of instruction in the event of your absence.
Participate in all faculty meetings and other duties as required of a faculty member.
Continuously develop your knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development.
Develop and maintain Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for your students and attend all required meetings.
Collect and analyze student data, providing meaningful reports and feedback.
Celebrate the achievements and progress of your students and create a positive, supportive learning environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience teaching students with disabilities in a classroom setting, with a focus on middle school-aged students.
At least 3 years of experience working with students who have moderate to severe disabilities.
Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies is preferred.
Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital tools to support student engagement and instruction.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a resident of Arizona.
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Education or related field.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
This position involves activities such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
The work environment is primarily indoors, within a classroom setting.
