Raytheon is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to support our teams in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. You will work within the Ground & Maritime Defense Radar Software Department on the Patriot Multi Echelon Training (PMET) Team. Patriot is the world's pre-eminent air defense system, and we are currently developing Patriot software in support of new system capabilities. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern languages and computing platforms. The successful candidate will be working onsite with a team of software engineers to develop and test new Training capabilities utilizing the latest in gaming technology.
What You Will Do: \n - Translate software requirements and specifications into logical design artifacts, development of software code, unit testing and integration of code and analysis of software defects
\n - Maintain existing features and develop new features for the software using Object-Oriented (OO) methodology
\n - Support generation of documentation to include: software development folders, design presentations, and problem reports
\n - Determine failure root cause, develop, design and implement solutions
\n - Analyze system performance vs. technical requirements, research and make SW/Systems improvement recommendations
\n - Extensive interaction with other groups including Requirements, Software, Integration, and Validation engineers
\n - Some off-hours activity in a software development facility may be necessary
\n - This role is 100% onsite in a secure facility

Qualifications you must have: \n - Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience.
\n - Development experience using the Unreal Engine
\n - Experience in modeling, animation, rending, and visualization
\n - Programming experience in C++
\n - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we Prefer: \n - Active Secret security clearance.
\n - 3D modeling and animation using Autodesk 3ds Max
\n - Experience with Perforce configuration management tool
\n - Demonstrable understanding of OOP principles, scalability considerations, and software development best practices
\n - Knowledge of systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
\n - Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps and test automation
\n - Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
This position requires a security clearance . DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
