Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

\n

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
\n• 3x12 hour shifts per week for 13 weeks
\n• Weekend requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
\n• Currently maintaining 1:5 patient ratios (goal is 1:4)
\n• Must float as needed to other PCU units and potentially Medical Surgical units
\n• Work on hospitalist unit providing general medicine PCU care
\n• Care for adults and geriatric patients with pulmonary and other medicine-related illnesses
\n• Manage patients on telemetry with remote monitoring capabilities
\n• Handle chest tubes, IV drips, tracheostomies, PICC lines, and various oxygen modes including CPAP and BiPAP
\n• Unit can accommodate 2 ventilated patients (chronic trach patients, not ICU level)
\n• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
\n• Epic experience required
\n• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
\n• Must have experience with patient ratio of 5:1
\n• Skills include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, and central line care
\n• 32 hours of orientation provided
\n• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter season)
\n• All RTO must be submitted upfront with application
\n• Christmas RTO cannot be approved

This major medical center operates a 20-bed telemetry Progressive Care Unit specializing in hospitalist services for patients with pulmonary and medical conditions. The facility features advanced telemetry monitoring systems, interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. The unit maintains modern equipment and can accommodate ventilated patients while providing comprehensive care between the medical surgical and intensive care levels.
