Job Title: Cellular Therapy RN – Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)

Shift Type: Night (3x12-Hour) 

Shift Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM 

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend 

On-Call Requirement: None 

Floating Requirement: Possible float to PCU 

Job Description:

Howard Regional Health is seeking an experienced Cellular Therapy RN specializing in Stem Cell Transplant and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) . The role involves working in a fully enclosed 4-bed unit , with a maximum 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio (typically 1:2). Nurses will provide stem cell infusion, chemotherapy administration, and oncologic emergency management .

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Oncology experience preferred
• PCU-level training required (Lead II, ACLS, occasional cardiac drip management)
• Knowledge of central lines and infection prevention
• Certifications Required:
  • ACLS
• Preferred Certifications:
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification
  • OCN Certification (adds $10/hour to base rate)

Skills Required:

• Bone Marrow Transplant: Stem cell therapies, graft-versus-host disease management
• Chemotherapy: Administration, continuous infusion, cytotoxic spill management
• Oncologic Emergencies: Tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, sepsis
• IV Therapy: Accessing ports, central line care, infusion pump management
• Pain Management: PCA pump management, IV push narcotic agents
• Psychosocial Care: Patient/family education, symptom management

• Patient Age Groups: Adults
• Daily Census: 4 patients
• Special Procedures: Stem cell infusion, chemotherapy
• Interdisciplinary Support: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Documentation System: Epic, Beacon

Scheduling & Orientation:

• Scheduling: No block scheduling
• Unit Orientation: 36 hours
• Observed Holidays: New Year's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas (7:00 PM day before – 7:00 AM day after)
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious exemptions only)
• Flu Vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious exemptions only)

Additional Notes:

• Does NOT accept first-time travelers
• Aya Offer after 48 hours without manager response
