SVP of Finance
Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly skilled Senior Vice President of Finance to join us in our Scottsdale, AZ or Lansdowne, VA office. As the Senior Vice President of Finance, you are a vital part of Alliance Defending Freedom. In this highly visible role, you will report to the CEO and closely partner with Executive Leadership Team members in furthering our legal objectives through the execution of a comprehensive and strategic enterprise-wide finance and accounting organization which includes accounting, budgeting, FP&A, tax, and regular financial and operational reviews. You will directly oversee ADF’s Finance function, as well as the Facilities and Security Services teams.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
THOUGHT LEADERSHIP AND PLANNING
- Contribute to the strategic plan; offer innovative approaches to advancing and elevating the ministry
- Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership
- Build an annual plan and budgeting process to manage and control ministry deliverables
- Develop a 3-year capital plan and monitor capital expenditures diligently
BUILD INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT THE FUTURE
- Develop and maintain dashboards and key reports to all stakeholders and authorities
- Lead automation and technology implementation to make work more efficient and agile
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, financial statements, Form 990, annual reports
- Establish financial planning and analysis functions to support the business
- Establish and maintain internal controls and audit activities
DELIVER IMPACT/RESULTS
- Execute the annual plan within approved budgets
- Manage and resolve risks to the annual plan
- Keep the executive team up to date on progress to the plan
HIRE/DEVELOP A HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAM
- Build, develop, and coach a team of finance leaders to ensure excellence and efficiency in the financial function
- Provide training to advance the capability of the team and clear advancement and succession plans
- Create a strong teamwork environment that enables sound cross-functional outcomes

- Technical Proficiency – Strong technical abilities in and knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, analytical skills, finance/treasury, IRS and regulatory compliance for non-profits, etc.
- Business Acumen – Ability to understand and utilize knowledge of the organization’s mission, business strategies, and operating processes to assist the executive leadership team with the achievement of key goals and objectives (understanding how an organization runs and generates revenue; working with executive leadership team on ideas, opportunities and strategies to improve the organization and its business processes); ability to balance between strategic planning and tactical execution.

- Leadership Team – As a true business partner to the CEO and leadership team, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and Alliance Defending Freedom’s long-term strategy.

Skills you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting Required. Master’s degree or CPA preferred
- 15+ years of relevant experience with 7+ years minimum in a corporate leadership role managing finance and accounting professionals and staff
- Demonstrable history of outstanding communication skills
- Experience as a senior leader for an organization that has grown dramatically and has successfully “scaled” resources to accommodate growth
- Experience with international accounting teams, real estate, and investments, as well as managing strategic relationships with financial institutions and vendor partners
- Mix of private-sector and non-profit experience preferred
- Working knowledge of enterprise financial systems
- Travel required (15%), primarily to connect with leaders and team members in other offices
