Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant to join our dynamic dermatology team. This individual will assist the Mohs surgeon in performing skin cancer procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical setting, with a strong focus on dermatology or surgical support, and possess excellent patient care skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for Mohs surgery, including explaining the procedure and addressing any patient concerns.
• Assist the Mohs surgeon during procedures by providing necessary instruments, materials, and support.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field during procedures.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and medical history prior to and during surgery.
• Assist with patient positioning and ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure.
• Perform wound dressing and provide post-operative care instructions to patients.
• Send tissue specimens to the pathology lab.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes and follow-up instructions.
• Ensure the surgical environment is clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
• Provide patient education regarding skin cancer, surgical aftercare, and preventive skin health.
• Schedule patient follow-up appointments and assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire
• Previous experience in a dermatology or surgical environment is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in dermatology and surgical settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused attitude.
• Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to assist in surgeries and patient care.
