Are you ready to inspire and guide young minds in a fun and enriching summer camp experience? The YMCA of Rapid City is seeking passionate and responsible individuals (18+) to join our team as Camp Counselors! This exciting role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children, while also helping to strengthen the community and promote the values of the YMCA. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a key role in providing a high-quality, safe, and developmentally appropriate camp program that fosters soft skills like teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and creativity, alongside character and academic enrichment.
Working under the guidance of the Youth Development Associate Director, you will be responsible for delivering an age-appropriate curriculum that encourages personal growth in social and physical skills, while ensuring each child in your care is safe, supported, and engaged. You will lead a variety of activities, from outdoor games and arts and crafts to team-building exercises and academic enrichment programs. Your goal will always be to create an environment where campers feel valued, confident, and motivated to develop new skills and friendships.

You will also maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, attendance, and incident reports, while participating in regular meetings to communicate important updates and strategies with the team.
Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, a passion for working with youth, and a commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and fun camp experience. Previous experience in childcare, leadership, or education is helpful but not required-what's most important is a positive attitude, a dedication to making a difference, and a willingness to grow as part of the YMCA team.
