Summer Architectural Intern

Overview: The Summer Architectural Intern position allows students the opportunity to bring what they have learned in school to a work setting. The Intern will have the opportunity to build their skills by collaborating with other JRJ professionals and working on different stages and types of projects. The Intern is responsible for transforming initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD) software applications, especially Revit.

Primary Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities:
  • Produce architectural drafting using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Collaborate with Architects, Designers, and Project Managers to ensure drafting products accurately reflect design and specifications
  • Perform red-line changes and document revisions as necessary
  • Assist project team with creation of professional documents for proposals 
  • Assist in documentation of project files
  • Research codes and standards for compliance
  • Research products (ie: finishes and fixtures)
  • Join team members for site visits

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of drafting principals and best practices.
  • Knowledge of architectural and structural drawings, and the ability to translate design concepts into professionally drafted designs.
  • Visual awareness and an eye for detail. Excellent drawing skills.
  • Ability to effectively complete assigned projects within scheduled parameters.
  • Ability to work efficiently and switch priorities as needed to manage tasks for multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work calmly and effectively under deadline. 
  • Effective and professional written & verbal communication skills. 
  • Cooperative & collaborative team member. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with all co-workers, clients, consultants, construction agencies, general contractors and other business partners.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude in the office regarding work assignments, teamwork, and company mission.
  • Proficient and efficient in use of Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and other industry standard design software applications. Proficient in standard office procedures, software, and communications technology.

Education & Work Experience: 

Must be a student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program for Architecture. 
Position is Summer Internship from June to September according to student's summer break. 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is usually performed in an in-person indoor office environment with long periods at a desk. Environment is collaborative and subject to occasional work interruptions. Employees may work under pressure to meet deadlines.
