Title: Sr. Encompass Developer

Annual Salary Range: $100 - $125K

Role Overview:

The primary purpose of the Encompass Developer will be to implement, configure, customize and optimize the company's loan origination system. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the loan origination workflow and the job function of all operational roles that participate in that workflow. Prefer someone who can work 100% on site in San Diego, will consider remote applicants.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely with internal departments and external system vendors to ensure functional integrations between systems to operate at expected efficiency and in accordance with standard mortgage lending requirements, both regulatory and business.
  • Maintain business rules for data entry, workflow progression (includes an in-depth knowledge on building custom workflows using Input Form builder) and regulatory compliance as specified in change requests submitted by the business partners.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues for the LOS and respond in a timely manner.
  • Create technical release notes and deployment guides to move completed code into production by the production support team.
  • Document all changes to the LOS.
  • Provide management with regular project updates, maintain relationships, identify project risks and assist by providing prudent and timely recommendations for solutions to business unit leaders.
  • Identify ways to assist management in product and/or business planning and improvement through requirements development and analysis. Propose new product features and updates.
  • This role also requires a strong 'out of the box' approach to things and a 'look at the big picture' initiative.
  • Working knowledge of Rest API integrations and system to system functionality.
  • Perform system analysis and simulation testing to determine potential impact of deploying system changes and code releases.
  • Regularly review LOS published system administration and development guidelines/best practices to apply them as practice for optimizing system performance and optimal use for the company.
  • Design/document release plans for deploying approved change requests to system functionality.
  • Partner with department subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze enhancement requests, identifying all root causes of issues and/or potential areas of improvement or efficiency gains.
  • Lead solution design and implementation of requested system changes.
  • Provide a holistic approach and process flow orientation to analysis and solution design.
  • Develop scalable solutions to meet business needs and demands.
  • Discover obstacles and develop action plan to navigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Manage pipeline of projects and/or enhancements that align with the department's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with CIO and Technical Management staff on project documentation, adherence to time constraints, project prioritization, and synchronization with other IT Solutions initiatives.
  • Communicate to ensure on-time completion of planned tasks.
  • Communicate with counterparts and business partners to ensure continuing alignment with project objectives.
  • Design and implement creative solutions to meet the needs of business line.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of mortgage loan originations and the loan process from borrower application to post closing activities, including secondary marketing, Investor and servicing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of organizing people, tasks, and activities to yield efficient workflow.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience producing accurate and detailed work on multiple projects under time pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and making solid business decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience with attention to detail, written time management and oral communication, multi-tasking, and working in a team atmosphere adhering to tight deadlines.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years Encompass experience.
  • Five years residential mortgage lending experience.
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage lending business including sales and operations roles including compliance and regulatory requirements (TRID).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify problems/issues, develop and evaluate options to implement solutions.
  • Ability to analyze current environment to make appropriate recommendations for change and to perform those changes within the established timeframes.
  • Collaboration to share, train and/or impart knowledge and skillset to members of team as it relates to implementing and process change and utilizing enhanced functionality.
  • Demonstrate a flexible mindset by adapting to and helping drive change.
  • Basic understanding of JavaScript, VB code and business rule writing within the Encompass platform (Smart Client and Web).

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.

Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio, e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.

Environmental: Office environment no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
