Sr. Embedded Automated Test Engineer Job Description (Full Time/Contract Onsite Sunnyvale CA)

As an Embedded Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test cases for embedded software. You will help enable fellow engineers to develop and test products faster and reliability at scale. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and reliability of embedded systems. You will also analyze test results, identify bugs and issues, and work with the development team to fix them. You will contribute to all stages of the development and product life cycle.

Additionally, you will contribute to the enhancement of automated testing methodologies and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the embedded process. You will be responsible for building, designing, and writing code to stitch the test automation process together to provide visibility and scalability of the embedded systems. Dashboards you design will encompass the entire end to end stages of the hardware, storage, and embedded software to provide visibility to the development process. This test data will be shared across a wide spectrum of end users and vendors to enhance the product goals for the organization. A strong engineer will have the ability to code and automate testing process, triage and troubleshoot firmware system tests, work with system and logs, work in labs with the product and collaborate with engineers on software release process and bring high value to the Embedded team.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded software
  • Executing functional, performance, and regression tests on embedded systems
  • Identifying and documenting software defects and issues across all end users, vendors, and embedded product team
  • Collaborating with the development team to resolve software defects
  • Analyzing test results and providing feedback to improve the quality of embedded software
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of testing methodologies and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in embedded software testing (CTests)
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and processes
  • Familiarity with embedded software development tools, operating systems and frameworks
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, or C++
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Prior experience in firmware for flash and non-volatile memory is desirable but not required.
