Your Role as a Special Education Teacher:

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your creativity and dedication will help foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Crafting Lesson Plans: Develop tailored lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring alignment with IEP goals and curriculum standards.
• Leading a Team: Supervise and guide paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.
• Implementing PBIS: Manage our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports program, tracking student behavior and maintaining communication with families.
• Creating a Safe Space: Maintain a classroom atmosphere that prioritizes student engagement and safety, adapting strategies to meet various disabilities.
• IEP Management: Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible while maintaining confidentiality.
• Collaborative Efforts: Work alongside staff and external agencies to provide the best educational experience for each student.
• Utilizing Technology: Support the use of assistive technology to enhance learning opportunities.
• Data-Driven Instruction: Plan and assess instruction based on student data, ensuring progress towards IEP goals.
• Continuous Learning: Engage in professional development to enhance your skills and stay updated with best practices.

What We’re Looking For:

• Education & Credentials:
  • Arizona Department of Education Standard Professional Special Education Teaching Certificate (K-12 Mild/Mod, Cross Cat., etc.) or Special Education Endorsement.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education is highly recommended.
• Clearances:
  • DOJ/FBI Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • TB Clearance
• Preferred Experience:
  • 2-5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in standard software applications and internet usage.

Physical Demands of the Role:

• Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
• Activity: Frequent tasks involving reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions in moderate to high noise levels, with or without assistive devices.
