Sewer 1st shift $15.50/hr, Farewell, MI
Are you someone who thrives in a production environment, taking pride in leading and producing custom set-ups and orders in a sewing department? Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent desired.
Ability to be versatile in operating different sewing machines.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret the English language.
Must possess basic math skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations that occur in the daily sewing process.
Agility of the upper and lower body extremities, and capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly.
Skills:
Leading and producing custom set-ups and orders in the sewing department.
Operating Gerber cutter to complete work orders efficiently.
Layout and set-up patterns for athletics and staging cut-outs with minimal waste.
Operating silk screening for top quality parts.
Operating sewing machines to join or reinforce materials.
Choosing appropriate thread color, material, and weight.
Properly threading and setting up sewing machines.
Preparing covers for sewing (handles, pockets, reinforcement squares, pin straps, zippers).
Manually feeding material through machines, controlling speed.
Detecting and correcting defective stitching.
Custom fitting parts with minor cutting flaws.
Performing minor machine maintenance (oiling, correcting operational problems).
Operating grommet machine, hydraulic press, and hot knife safely.
Selecting and arranging patterns and materials for cut-outs with minimal waste.
As a Sewer 1st shift $15/hr, not only will you be responsible for leading and producing custom sewing orders and operating a range of specialized equipment, but you’ll also be ensuring quality, efficient production, and managing materials to minimize waste. This job, depending on your work ethic, could be a short-term or a long-term fit.
