Summary
This position is located in Social Work Service at the Boise VA Medical Center in Boise, ID. It functions as a Senior Social Worker on the Mental Health Intensive Case Management team.
Qualifications
Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled.
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work by the CSWE. Graduates of schools in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until fully accredited. A doctoral degree cannot substitute for a master's degree.
- Licensure: Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's level.
- English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English, as required by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
- Experience/Education for GS-12: At least two years of post-advanced practice clinical experience, with one year at the GS-11 level.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated advanced practice skills, including specialized interventions, differential diagnosis, outcome evaluation, consultation, policy development, and expanding clinical knowledge.
Preferred Experience
Experience in community case management with individuals with serious chronic mental illnesses, specifically psychotic disorders.
Physical Requirements
Community-based outreach, traveling, sitting, walking, standing, bending, and carrying items such as books and files. Travel into the community for interviews is required.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive mental health and psychosocial assessments and diagnostic services for Veterans.
- Demonstrate leadership, expertise, and creative management of Veterans with serious mental illness.
- Practice at an advanced level with specialized clinical knowledge, providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Utilize complex differential diagnosis and treatment planning, including making diagnoses within clinical privileges.
- Determine service priorities independently and provide consultation to healthcare providers.
- Adhere to policies and standards, and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
Work Schedule and Benefits
