Our Client, a Global Investment Bank, is seeking a Senior Business Analyst in their New York, NY location

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team in the Broker Dealer Back Office, focusing on technical business analysis to support accounting and finance functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, P&L, and balance sheet analysis, as well as experience with accounting configuration for various products, including fixed income, equity, repo, tri-party, derivatives, and secondary loan trading.

This contract position will primarily focus on providing technical assistance and business analysis to support the development of a greenfield project, building an accounting engine and subledger solution to simplify finance architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting and Finance Expertise:

• Provide technical assistance and business analysis to support the development of an accounting engine and subledger solution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement accounting treatments/configurations for various financial products, including fixed income, equity, repo, and tri-party.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation to support system configurations and business processes.

2. Technical Support:

• Assist accounting and product control teams in resolving system-related issues, including trade capture errors, position discrepancies, and system integration problems.
• Work closely with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, as well as implement system enhancements.

3. Business Analysis:

• Analyze business requirements and develop technical solutions to support accounting and finance functions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and develop technical specifications.
• Maintain business process documentation to support accounting and finance functions.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Design reports to support accounting and finance functions, including P&L analysis, balance sheet analysis, and drill-down reporting for deep analytics and insights.
• Analyze data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for process improvement.

5. Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and develop technical solutions to enhance business efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement process changes and monitor results.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a focus on technical business analysis.
• Strong background in accounting, P&L, and balance sheet analysis.
• Experience configuring accounting treatments for financial products, including fixed income, equity, repo, and tri-party.
• Hands-on experience with accounting engines and subledger solutions such as Oracle OFSAA, Oracle Accounting Hub, Aptitude AAH, SAP Accounting Rules Engine, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of technical systems, business processes, and analytical skills.

Experience with the following systems and tools:

• Broadridge (BPSA, IMPACT A)
• S&P Global (WSO, ClearPar)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Experience with accounting hubs such as Oracle OFSAA, Aptitude, or Fynapse.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with greenfield projects and building accounting engines and subledger solutions from scratch.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance procedures.
• Experience with agile methodologies and future-ready technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
