Overview School Bus Attendant at Jamestown City School District. Provides support to the Bus Driver and assists students during transit, loading, and unloading. Responsibilities Assist Bus Driver in caring for classified passengers on the school bus during transit or loading/unloading. Serve pupils with disabling conditions on the school bus and ensure all safety practices are followed. Maintain order on the school bus. May guide children safely across streets and intersections. May help children in lower grades with wearing apparel. May render first aid treatment, including CPR, as required by IEP. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum age: 19 years old. Must meet all requirements specified by the NYS Department of Education pursuant to 8 NYCRR Education Section 156.3, at time of appointment and during service in this classification. Criminal background check required. Knowledge and skills: general intelligence, ability to work well with children, basic first aid, neat appearance, familiarity with classroom routine, tact, courtesy, good judgment, and physical condition suited to the position. Compensation: $16.00/hour.
