Job Purpose

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) with decision making capacity on forensic appraisal review and analysis expertise. Ensures quality control of all appraisal reports, escalations, complex reports, and alignment to all regulatory and GSE guidelines. Conducts pre and post-delivery reviews based upon logical analysis and sound judgement for the primary purpose of determining report quality and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Responsible for effectively coaching vendors and appraisers regarding commonly accepted appraisal practices, and working to resolve valuation discrepancies in a timely manner to provide the most reliable and well supported value recommendation possible.

Expectations

  • Reviews and analyzes appraisal reports to validate that the appraised value was based on appropriate appraisal methodology and that a reconciliation of multiple approaches was completed appropriately.
  • Performs in house analysis based on the client’s construction budgets, scope of work, and local market sales.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and produces valuations provided by automated valuation software, 3rd party sources, and local market experts.
  • Confirms compliance of vendors and appraisal reports to ensure credible appraisal reports within Finance of America’s policies, USPAP, and government regulations and laws.
  • Identifies collateral issues and works with leadership to ensure a timely receipt of revised appraisal reports.
  • Effectively communicates status of files with customer and internal partners to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all compliance and risk related topics outlined by regulatory authorities, staying abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and appraisal practices to ensure overall compliance.
  • Rapidly adapts to changing information, conditions and/or unexpected obstacles.
  • Works within the Collateral Department to maintain processes and standard operating procedures, and provide enhancement recommendations.
  • Maintains state certification through necessary training, education and testing requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • State Real Estate Appraiser Certification (three year minimum)

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • 4-7 years of appraisal review experience
  • Thorough knowledge of 2-4 family appraisal techniques
  • Ability to meet deadlines, plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to identify and resolve issues
  • Has a positive attitude and work well with others in a professional manner
  • Maintains professional business relationships with client, vendors and internal staff and understand the importance of timeliness
  • Proficiency in computer skills including use of the Internet and Microsoft office programs; including but not limited to Excel, Word and Outlook as well as the ability to learn others
  • Extensive knowledge of all relative appraisal and industry guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills, including but not limited to, internal/external, and all third party vendors.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is ($80,000 - $100,000 ) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer.
