Salary: $22.00 per hour

Southside Blooms is looking to add a Retail Florist to its team.

Based in the southside of Chicago, Southside Blooms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is a farm-to-vase florist providing unique and fashion-forward arrangements while maintaining an uncompromising dedication to the environment and its surrounding communities. Role

As a Retail Florist at Southside Blooms, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and arranging floral decorations for retail clients. This includes fulfilling orders quickly and in large batches, while aligning with our eco-friendly practices.

Your Core Contributions To The Team

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their floral needs, preferences, and budget.
  • Design and create custom floral arrangements.
  • Ensure all floral arrangements are fresh, visually appealing, and meet high-quality standards.
  • Manage retail floral inventory,
  • Oversee client floral experiences, like workshops, classes, etc.
  • Assist with Southside Blooms floral events needs.
  • Lead and mentor youth in the retail process, sharing floral design techniques and work ethics.
  • Stay up to date with the latest floral design trends.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong relationships with clients.

About You

Knowledge, abilities, and qualifications

  • Proven experience as a florist or floral designer, with FTD fulfillment experience.
  • Creative and artistic ability with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to handle and transport floral arrangements.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to drive a large SUV or Van.
  • Knowledge of different flower types, seasonal availability, and floral care techniques.

All The Other Stuff

This is a full-time position, requiring 8 hour shifts that occur Monday through Friday, including evening shifts and/or weekend shifts as needed. Overtime may be required.
