Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct in-depth reactive and proactive research and analysis of individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects using a variety of sources, tools and techniques; and analyze, interpret, synthesize and present complex information effectively in clear and concise research reports; verify prospect ratings; generate qualified prospect lists for philanthropic initiatives; produce prospect profile briefings for events and meetings.
Through collaboration, assist with managing fundraiser portfolios which includes identifying new prospects for fundraiser engagement, providing data-informed recommendations regarding solicitation strategies, and ensuring prospects are moved successfully through the fundraising cycle.
Manage and implement prospect management and tracking functionality within CRM, which includes serving as a resource for frontline fundraisers on prospect management system; training new users on advancement CRM and other necessary tools; documenting research results in CRM system; and assisting with division-wide efforts to acquire and maintain constituent data according to best practices. Monitor fundraising and engagement performance through metrics and performance analysis. Assist with the creation and implementation of new/enhanced prospect management policies, procedures and protocols; serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact during new CRM implementation.
Supervise Advancement Services Coordinator, which includes setting performance goals, monitoring progress, providing feedback, setting priorities, and providing ongoing training in research methodology and resources.
Participate at an appropriate level in professional organizations to enhance knowledge and skills and continuously evaluate research and wealth screening tools, vendors, and products in the market, including tracking pricing, assessing capabilities, and identifying available integrations with CRM.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's Degree.
At least three years of relevant experience in fundraising operations or prospect research/management, preferably in higher education.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong research and analytical skills; very high attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, adapt to shifting priorities.
Work independently, use initiative and sound judgement, and work collaboratively within a team.
Proficient using Internet-based search engines and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Demonstrated ability in research techniques such as prospect identification, data mining, and relationship mapping.
Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential donor and prospect information.
Experience working with major fundraising products/platforms such as Ellucian Advance, Raisers Edge, Salesforce, etc.
Familiarity with prospect research tools.
Previous supervisory experience.
