Position Summary:
IEM is looking for a Full-Time Project Manager to work within our Puerto Rico Critical Infrastructure team; the preferred candidate will have at least 7 years of program and/or project management experience working at a strategic level across multiple clients or applicants.
Primary Location:
- Candidate must live a commutable distance to Guaynabo or Client Site, Puerto Rico
- Position will be a fully in office role, we cannot accommodate remote work from home.
Travel Requirements:
- This position may require travel to complete work assignments or attend meetings
Essential Functions:
- Manage the overall operation and direction of the program or project
- Develops strategies for achieving project goals and objectives
- Develops and maintains Project Work Plan including budget and schedule
- Serves as Primary Point of Contact between client stakeholders and program team
- Provides written and oral reports to contract management and client representatives
Current Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exposure to operating and monitoring federally funded programs.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, empathy, and a cooperative attitude.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
- Vegetation Management Practices: Understanding of modern vegetation management techniques, tools, and practices, including but not limited to pruning, removal, and herbicide application, as well as organic and environmentally sensitive alternatives.
- Energy Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the Energy sector's operational standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements, especially those related to vegetation management near power lines and infrastructure.
- Project Management Principles: Proficiency in project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall, to oversee projects from conception through completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of environmental regulations and guidelines, including those specific to vegetation management, wildlife protection, and habitat conservation, as applicable in the utility sector.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS: Understanding of GIS tools and technologies for mapping and analyzing vegetation coverage, distribution, and management needs relative to utility assets and infrastructure.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop effective vegetation management strategies to mitigate risks to utility infrastructure.
- Leadership and Team Management: Skills in leading, motivating, and managing teams, including internal staff and external contractors, to achieve project objectives efficiently and effectively.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with internal teams, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and the public.
- Budget Management: Capability to develop, manage, and adhere to project budgets, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Technological Proficiency: Comfort with using industry-specific software, including project management tools, GIS platforms, and data analysis applications.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing regulations, environmental conditions, and operational challenges, implementing flexible strategies to maintain project continuity and compliance.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail in planning, executing, and monitoring vegetation management activities to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Risk Management: Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with vegetation management activities, including those related to safety, environmental impact, and project delays.
- Strategic Planning: Ability to develop long-term vegetation management plans that align with the utility's operational goals, regulatory requirements, and community expectations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Skill in engaging with and managing the expectations of diverse stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and customers, to foster positive relationships and ensure project success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
- 7 years relevant experience that includes management of at least three (3) concurrent projects of similar size and complexity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant field or relevant professional certification or accreditation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
- Experience in Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery.
- Formal Project Management Training.
- Professional Registration or Certification in Project Management.
