We are looking for a Project Engineer for our Westbury, NY facility. In this role you will support the R&D organization by researching, evaluating, selecting and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in testing and solving technical problems pertaining to thermal spray application development, system acceptance tests, and product validation projects.

Your Responsibilities:

• Formulates and executes project plans within the Coating Solution Center (CSC) under limited guidance from Sr. Project Engineers.
\n
• Leads individual project activities for thermal spray application and parameter development, product support and validation (system acceptance tests). Additional support required for key account managers, materials and equipment business lines.
\n
• Ensure project assignments meet established technical requirements, budget, and time schedules. This includes guidance in the use of equipment and materials used in the spray process, testing for coating properties, and product evaluation.
\n
• Oversees the maintenance and organization of spray test results and documentation.
\n
• Keeps stakeholders informed of the status of assigned projects maintaining direct contact with Oerlikon Metco sales, materials and equipment business lines.
\n
• Generates project proposal activities including quotations, scheduling, and specifying the required project tasks and goals; inclusive of designing test plans and performing thermal spray processing. Required to prepare technical reports and/or presentations for review.
\n
• Evaluates metallurgical coating samples and reports for design intent; assessing coating specifications and if requirements were achieved.
\n
• Maintains strict adherence to Oerlikon Metco internal procedures and safety regulations pertaining to thermal spraying and coating evaluation.
\n
• Position may require travel to support CSC activities including on-site knowledge transfers, customer service issues, thermal spray system support and acceptance tests.
\n
• Guides thermal spray operators within the CSC and supports knowledge transfers to various departments within Oerlikon Metco.
\n
• Performs other duties as required.
\n

Your Profile:

\n
• Bachelor's degree in materials science/mechanical engineering or related field
\n
• 3 years job experience in thermal spray or related field, preferred
\n
• Master's degree is a plus
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
\n
• Highly developed quantitative analysis and problem solving skills
\n
• Comprehensive and current knowledge of coating technologies and techniques
\n
• Strong business acumen and ability to apply engineering science
\n
• Must be proficient in using business and communications software (preferably Word, Excel, PowerPoint, common Windows operating systems, and Outlook)
\n
• Ability to travel 30% travel may be required
\n

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $75,000 to $100,000 per year. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
