Overview

We are partnering with a leading Retailer in the in the retail – grocery sector to hire a Principal Data Scientist within their Supply Chain Organization for a 9-month contract. This is a senior-level role for a hands-on data leader with a track record in optimization, predictive modeling, and operational research, particularly within the retail or adjacent industries like manufacturing or travel.

You will lead data science initiatives, drive end-to-end model development, and align teams and stakeholders around scalable, business-focused data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate junior data scientists across multiple projects.
• Engage and align with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure business needs are accurately translated into data solutions.
• Develop and deploy predictive models and optimization algorithms from concept through to production.
• Focus on accuracy and performance enhancements of models in live environments.
• Drive innovation within supply chain optimization and network planning.

Requirements:

• Industry Background: Strong preference for candidates with experience in retail, manufacturing, or travel sectors.
• Optimization Expertise: Educational and practical experience in operational research, supply chain planning, or network design.
• Stakeholder-Facing: Strong business acumen and ability to present insights and strategies clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Tech Stack:

• Python for modeling and data science
• Azure for cloud-based data storage, computing, and deployment
