Job Title: Principal Consultant Utilities Civil Litigation

Location: Washington, DC, Marlborough, MA, or remote

Concentric Energy Advisors, Inc. ( is an employee-owned management consulting and financial advisory firm focused on the North American energy and utility industries. The firm specializes in financial advisory assignments; market assessment and strategy development; ratemaking and utility regulation; litigation support; and management and operations consulting. Concentric is headquartered in Marlborough, MA with offices in Washington, DC and Calgary, and offers a competitive base salary, incentive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package. We are looking for a Principal Consultant Utilities Civil Litigation to provide strategic direction, manage client relationships, and oversee complex litigation within the utilities sector. This position can be based in Washington, DC; Marlborough, MA; or remotely across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challenges
  • Analyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer insights to help clients navigate legal proceedings
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation matters
  • Oversee, manage, and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client types
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes
  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal teams, and other experts to strengthen client deliverables and outcomes
  • Provide expert witness testimony and analysis when required
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigation
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sector
  • Evaluate the performance of existing offerings and recommend adjustments to optimize consulting market share
  • Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firms services
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance for professional growth

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law/Legal, or Political Science
  • Juris Doctor (JD), Masters Degree, MBA or PhD preferred
  • 10+ years experience in the energy utility space, in a consulting firm, utility, public utilities commission, Big 4 accounting firm, energy-focused law firm, or similar
  • Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and lead business development tasks
  • Experience leading ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings
  • Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or regulatory proceedings
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership
  • Occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada

Base salary typically starting at $200,000 plus annual incentive compensation bonus.
