The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal. PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients' rights in all aspects of patient care and report issues to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. Assist professional staff with basic life support principles. Unit Description: The Surgical Observation Unit at the Gateway Campus is a 13-bed unit where patients can be observed, treated, and diagnosed. Based on test results, a patient will either be admitted to another inpatient unit or discharged within an 8-24 hour window. Clinical staff will have the opportunity to care for a wide range of diagnoses while demonstrating critical thinking and time management skills in a fast paced environment. As part of the Surgical Observation Unit, staff will work closely with patients and families in a rewarding environment by coordinating results and communicating with the Deaconess Care Team. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire. Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
