Job Title: Marketing & Communications Manager (20-25 hrs/week)

Location (city, state): Washington, DC

Industry: Education

Pay: $30-35/hr

Type: Contract-to-Hire (potential for full-time conversion based on performance).

Hours: 20-25 hours/week

Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days/week (2 days onsite, 1 day remote).

Duration: Through the 2024-2025 school year, with potential for extension.

Start Date: Early February 2025.

Job Description:

The Marketing & Communications Manager will develop and implement strategic communication initiatives to enhance the organization’s branding, engage stakeholders, and promote events and achievements. This part-time consulting role, reporting to the Managing Director, is crucial to strengthening the client’s public presence for the 2024-2025 school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a cohesive marketing and messaging strategy.
  • Design high-quality content for newsletters, social media, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Manage and update the organization’s website.
  • Oversee social media engagement and create compelling visuals and campaigns.
  • Draft press releases, serve as the media contact, and manage media visit logistics.
  • Standardize branding across all materials and merchandise.
  • Support fundraising efforts through promotional materials and campaigns.
  • Monitor communication metrics to improve outreach strategies.
  • Capture and manage photography and videography for marketing use.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align communications with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally in education or nonprofit settings.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.), digital marketing tools, and analytics platforms.
    • Experience managing social media platforms and content management systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
    • Spanish language skills are a plus.
