Job Description

Interco is seeking an IT Intern. This role offers hands-on experience with our IT infrastructure, from daily operations to troubleshooting and deploying new technologies. Ideal for computer science or IT majors, this internship is a chance to translate academic knowledge into real-world skills, working alongside seasoned professionals on enterprise-level systems.

In this role, the intern will work with the latest technologies, manage network configurations, and contribute to projects that ensure the security and efficiency of Interco's IT operations. This opportunity is not just about gaining experience; it's about making a tangible impact while being mentored by experts in the field.

Qualifications

Responsibilities Include:

• Deploy computers for new users & set up workstations.
• Configure hardware & software.
• Help manage assets and peripherals.
• Monitor company hardware & software.
• Perform basic fixes on end user computers and see to it that their issues are resolved.
• Enter detailed notes into the ticketing system when closing tickets upon completion of task.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a university and currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Technology, or a related field.
• This internship is not for CyberSecurity Majors.
• Basic understanding of computer systems hardware and software.
• Basic understanding of Active Directory
• Desire to learn about hardware, networking, and software administration.
• Diligent attitude and punctuality
• Must be naturally driven to produce high quality results with great care
• This position is open to local students only

Additional Information

Compensation: 

• Pay rate: $15 / hour
• Operating hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM.
• This position does not offer healthcare benefits
• This position is open to local students only

Company Information 

Interco has been recycling computers, batteries, metals, and electronics with a focused track record of innovation and integrity since 1996. The company specializes in the placement of smelter-ready materials catering to commercial, industrial, dealer, and government organizations nationwide.  

The Interco recycling facilities are separated into three departments: nonferrous metals, computers and electronics, and battery processing. The nonferrous facility is located on the 40-acre main campus in Madison (IL) while the computers and electronics are processed in Edwardsville where the Administrative and some logistics offices are located. The commercial department is located on The Hill in St. Louis.
