Description Optometrist - Acuity Eye Group - Palm Desert / La Quinta CA Acuity Eye Group is the largest physician-owned, privately managed (no private equity) Eye Group in the U.S. Based in Southern California, Acuity Eye Group has 50 locations with 40 Optometrists and 40 Ophthalmologists representing the subspecialties of Cornea, Glaucoma, Retina, Oculoplastics, and Pediatrics. Patients can find a variety of services within a single clinic, ensuring the best use of their time and a comprehensive approach to care. Acuity Optometrists practice full scope medical optometry working alongside comprehensive, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal surgeons including interpreting imaging, managing ocular disease, pre and post-operative care for cataract, glaucoma, and vitreoretinal diseases, as well as prescribing glasses, contact lenses, and medications. State of the Art technology - Acuity 360 - the latest digital scanning technology, plus OCT, B-Scan, Optos, pachymetry, IOL master, biometry, corneal topography, and tomography. Advanced Bespoke EMR “FOCUS” with imaging and remote access. Maximum efficiency designs with 4 lanes, opticians, multiple technicians, and support staff including full optical shop. Well established practice for you to learn and grow. Busy surgical practice with consulting retina, cornea, glaucoma, and comprehensive MDS. Telehealth Optometrist services for remote assistance. Salary $150,000 - $155,000 plus optical bonus. Sign on Bonus / Relocation allowance. $5000 - $10,000 referral bonus for referring other Optometrists - Ophthalmologists. Minimal call 1:8 after hours triage phone call only - no onsite. Teaching environment with Retina and Glaucoma Ophthalmology fellowships. Specialty interests welcomed - Dry Eye, Specialty lenses, Myopia. The Palm Springs location is surrounded by four picturesque mountain ranges offering awe-inspiring scenery with exceptional hiking, biking, tennis, golf, and other outdoor activities. The area is known for its cultural and artistic treasures and shopping. Convenient access to LA and San Diego and low traffic for a metro area. Greater Palm Springs is Southern California’s resort oasis encompassing nine cities - Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Indio, Indian Wells, La Quinta, and Coachella - each offering unique experiences, festivals, and blue skies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Diagnose defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucoma. Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient’s specific case and medical history. Prescribe medications, eyeglasses, and contact lenses. Advise patients on proper eye care techniques. Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patients. Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patients. Book next appointments in cases where re-examination is required. Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses. Refer eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need to undergo surgery or in cases of severe eye injuries. Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy. Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies. Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices). Stay current with changes in the healthcare environment and act accordingly in the best interest of the Company. Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements

REQUIRED:

Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and active California license in good standing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects. Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer. The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly.

DESIRABLE:

Glaucoma Certification a plus. Knowledge of Care Cloud EMR.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:

Current, unrestricted California Optometrist License.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/TALENTS:

Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions. Strong leadership skills and ability to coach, teach, and inspire. Team player and individual contributor coupled with excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to provide guidance to less experienced team members. Computer proficiency including knowledge of Word, Excel and use of standard office equipment. Effective oral and written communications skills with internal and external customers at all levels. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, staff, vendors, or other members of the business community. Ability to draw valid conclusions, apply sound judgment in making decisions, and to make decisions under pressure. Ability to direct the work of others and work as a Team Leader and Coach in attainment of goals.
