POSITION: Middle School Science Teacher

COMPENSATION: Pays up to $50 per hour

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

Position Description:

We are actively seeking passionate Middle School Science Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. Successful candidates will demonstrate a profound understanding of both content and pedagogy, coupled with an unwavering commitment to narrowing the achievement gap. We expect candidates to forge meaningful connections with students and families and showcase their expertise in working with students with disabilities. To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the qualifications of a Highly Qualified DE teacher.

Responsibilities of Teachers Include but Are Not Limited to:

Academic Achievement and Character Development:

• Foster a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment.
• Inspire and guide students to attain high academic and behavioral standards.
• Engage students and families in the pursuit of academic success and the embodiment of school's Core values.
• Leverage data to inform and refine instructional strategies and interventions.
• Collaborate on the design and implementation of unit and lesson plans with grade/subject teams.

Professional Growth and Development:

• Collaborate with instructional coaches, grade-level chairs, and school teams to continuously enhance instructional, culture-building, and leadership skills.
• Actively participate in professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetings.
• Contribute to raising student achievement and character development across the school by reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering for additional activities aimed at improving school culture.

• Exhibit strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Demonstrate a high level of personal organization and planning.
• Embrace a team-oriented mindset, characterized by maturity, humility, resilience, adaptability, follow-through, a sense of humor, openness to feedback, and a "roll-up-my-sleeves" attitude.
• Wholeheartedly believe in the school's mission and educational model.
• Possess mastery of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.

Educational Background and Requirements:

• Preferred 3 to 5 years of teaching experience in an urban educational setting with a proven record of high achievement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Eligibility for certification within the State of Delaware.
