SUMMARY:

The Mechanic’s Helper will perform a variety of tasks within the maintenance department. This position is directly responsible for tasks involving parts and inventory, shipping and receiving, aircraft cleaning, hangar upkeep and IT assistance. Additional duties will include assisting or helping GSE Mechanics, Avionics Technicians and A&P Mechanics where needed and in accordance with all FAA and GMM regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist or help GSE Mechanics, Avionics Technicians and A&P Mechanics where needed and in accordance with all FAA and GMM regulations
• Move aircraft in and out of hanger using golf cart to tow
• Perform daily cleaning of both interior and exterior of aircraft
• Nightly stacking of hangar
• Remove FOD from work space and ramp
• Perform accurate, timely computer system transactions including parts/materials issues and returns, warehouse transfers and bin transfers to maintain inventory integrity
• Locate and acquire parts/materials for maintenance using the computer tracking system and other resources
• Ensure parts/materials are properly stored, segregated and identified, and compile with the parts/material Shelf Life program per GMM 20-05
• Review the MXI system daily for open requisitions to determine if requested parts/materials are still needed, to determine why requisitions are not processed and to cancel/delete outdated requisitions
• Expedite past-due repair and purchase orders for critical spare requirements
• Enforce stockroom security, cleanliness and department policies
• Oversee inventory-related projects; ensure timely assigned task completion
• Ensure compliance with hazardous materials/dangerous goods regulations
• Maintain aggressive awareness of the threat of Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUPS) to prevent potential compromise of inventory integrity
• Carefully handle aircraft parts during transactions, shipping and receiving to avoid damage, flight cancellations or delays
• Ship parts/material per Company policies and procedures and applicable regulations
• Under direct supervision, assist maintenance employees (GSE Mechanic, Avionics Technician, A&P Mechanic) with tasks allowed under FAA regulations, when needed
• With work HDQ IT Department to assist with IT matters at the maintenance base

• Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have basic mechanical skills
• Must own basic set of aircraft maintenance tools
• Must take instruction and guidance well
• Must be goal oriented, have an exceptional attention to detail, and must work well in team situations and also as an individual

• Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work any and all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

• Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical tasks which include bending, stooping, kneeling and working overhead for long periods of time
• Must hold a valid US driver’s license
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
