Pride Health is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to support our client’s medical facility based in Birmingham, AL 35235. This is a 6+ Month with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!\n\n*The salary is determined by an individual's level of experience, as well as any relevant licenses and certifications they may hold.\n\n**Ideal candidate has Hematology, Cerner Path Net experience.\nBS Bio or Chem, BSMT, CLS, MLS, open to MLT as well.\n\nJob Description:\nWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate processing and testing of clinical specimens, while adhering to laboratory procedures and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in high complexity testing and will work closely with a team of professionals to maintain and improve laboratory operations.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n •\tFollow established lab procedures for specimen processing, testing, and reporting results while maintaining accurate records.\n•\tEnsure proficiency testing is handled as patient specimens, with proper documentation.\n•\tAnalyze specimens using approved methods and review results for accuracy before release.\n•\tAdhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines, ensuring a compliant and safe workplace.\n•\tMaintain quality control, document calibrations, and address test system deviations as per established procedures.\n•\tTroubleshoot test performance issues and notify supervisors if necessary, implementing corrective actions as needed.\n•\tReport STAT or critical results promptly and respond to client or lab queries with accurate information.\n•\tEnsure proper labeling of reagents and test kits, and maintain lab cleanliness.\n•\tStay updated on new procedures through training and attend departmental meetings for continued learning.\n•\tActively participate in safety training and compliance with regulatory inspections.\n\nRequired Knowledge & Skills:\n•\tSolid understanding of basic laboratory testing procedures.\n•\tStrong computer skills with the ability to adapt to multiple laboratory computer systems.\n•\tKnowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) practices.\n•\tAbility to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.\n•\tExcellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients or other departments.\n•\tAbility to always maintain patient confidentiality.\n\nEducation & Experience:\n•\tBachelor’s degree in medical technology (preferred) or related field (Chemistry, Biology), or associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.\n•\tFor foreign-educated candidates, a credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) is required.\n•\tMinimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing is preferred, or a bachelor’s in chemistry/biology with experience in clinical laboratory settings.\n•\tNational certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is preferred (e.g., ASCP, AMT).\n•\tBlood bank experience is required.\n\nAdditional Job Details:\n•\tPrimary duties include pipetting clinical specimens, specimen processing (smear, stain, lyse, label), and working with a BD FACSCanto II flow cytometer.
