To provide information on credit union products and services according to all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants for routine loans and processing loan applications. Gather background information and analyze loan applicants credit history. Approve or deny loan applications based on analysis. Operate with moderate credit authority.
_*Duties and Responsibilities as a Loan Officer*_ _Gather background information on loan applications by interviewing loan applicants and obtaining credit bureau reports._ _Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information._ _Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application._ _Calculate debt-to-income ratios on loan applicants._ _Calculate how much of a loan applicants debt is secured or unsecured._ _Complete loan application over the phone and/or electronically._ _Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans._ _Determine eligibility of loan co-maker from co-makers statement and credit rating._ _Approve or deny loan applications._ _When a loan is denied, explain reasons for denial in a professional, courteous manner. Work with members to provide recommendations or alternative options for other possible way to secure a loan in the future._ _Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications._ _Complete loan documents and disburse loans when approved._ _Implement new loan products and services in accordance with management direction._ _Cross-sell lending and other credit union products._ _*Core Competencies:*_ Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or economics preferred, but not required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Active listening and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail. Computer literacy. Banking/lending knowledge preferred.
