About the Role

The Company is seeking an Interim Executive Director to serve as the key manager and leader of its theater. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing operating strategies, managing administrative staff, and establishing relationships with local, regional, and national arts organizations. This multifaceted role requires a visionary leader with excellent management and communication skills, particularly in the areas of fundraising, donor cultivation, marketing, and community outreach. The Interim Executive Director will oversee the strategic plan, administration, development, and programming of the organization, and will be the front-facing representative, engaging with various stakeholders including performing artists, students, parents, teaching artists, staff, donors, and government officials. Applicants for the Interim Executive Director position should have a Master's degree in arts administration, theater, business, or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a performing arts center environment. The role requires a candidate with a passion for the organization's mission, substantive knowledge of its client base and stakeholders, and the ability to translate the mission into actionable items. Financial management skills, talent management, and the ability to effectively communicate and manage people are essential. The Interim Executive Director will also be involved in all aspects of the theater's business management, including financial record-keeping, budgeting, and legal negotiations.
