Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist performs a wide-range of duties in all HR functional areas to support a 2 shift manufacturing facility in Bloomington, MN. This position reports to the HR Director and will carry out responsibilities in data administration, training, onboarding, employee communications and activities, HRIS and general administrative duties in a fast-paced environment. This position requires flexibility and adaptability along with strong relationship building and organizational skills. The HR Generalist must demonstrate discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Respond in timely manner to routine HR related employee inquiries and requests for assistance. Escalate inquiries for response when appropriate
  • Meet with operations leaders on a regular basis to ensure compliance with annual HR processes and that any performance or engagement issues are discussed and plans created to improve when needed.
  • Track and maintain attendance records for hourly employee population including creating corrective actions and working with supervisors and internal HR teams to interpret FMLA, ADA, and state protected time.
  • Update and maintain accurate records and confidential employee files to ensure compliance with company requirements and local, state and Federal regulations (i.e., corrective action, job offer and transfer letters, etc).
  • Assist employees with basic questions about benefits, payroll, or talent programs and know to direct to COE’s for assistance.
  • Work with employees and managers to resolve basic employee relations issues.
  • Assist employees and managers with using Workday system – will need to pull reports and be able to organize data quickly, including connecting data sets in Excel.
  • Monitor data in Workday using audit reports and request updates as needed.
  • Support Safety, Health and Environmental initiatives and adhere to all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Manage HR communications with the facility including updating HR board, TV monitors, newsletter, speaking at quarterly employee meetings, and leadership meetings.
  • Participate in employee engagement event planning, coordination, and execution.

Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources related field is preferred.
  • 1 -3 years human resources experience in a professional/ manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer systems skills, specifically MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with Workday or similar systems strong desired.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, analytical and influencing skills.
  • Must be able to protect the confidentiality of employee interactions and records. Comply with all HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Experience recruiting non-exempt employees using effective interview techniques.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to and support change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a collaborative manner.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic employment law.
  • Ability to be sensitive and responsive to employee needs while balancing the needs of the business.
