JOB SUMMARY:

Curtze Food Service, a family owned 148 year old, 6th generation food distributor is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to join the food production operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role involves monitoring production processes, conducting audits, and ensuring the plant complies with food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Time will be divided between all 3 Companies based on need and will work alongside plant personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure Compliance : Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including, but not limited to, FDA, USDA, and HACCP standards, as well as any relevant food safety certifications (e.g., SQF, BRC).
• Quality Control : Regularly inspect and check products, raw materials, and the production process to ensure they meet established specifications.
• Audit Preparation : Support internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and that the plant is fully prepared for regulatory and third-party inspections.
• Documentation : Maintain and manage accurate records for all QA processes, including batch records, corrective actions, and test results.
• Training : Provide training to production staff on quality standards, food safety protocols, and best practices.
• Root Cause Analysis : Investigate non-conformities, customer complaints, or deviations from production standards, and implement corrective actions to address and prevent recurrence.
• Supplier Audits : Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure suppliers meet food safety and quality standards, conducting audits as necessary.
• Health and Safety : Support the plant's health and safety program, ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards.
• Reporting : Provide regular reports on quality assurance performance to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience : At least 2-3 years of experience in quality assurance or food safety in a food production environment.
• Certifications : HACCP certification and familiarity with GFSI standards preferred. SQF or BRC certification is a plus.

SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
• Experience in conducting audits and inspections.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in MS Office and QA software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, walk, and inspect production lines for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
