I’m working on behalf of a brilliant client of ours at EVONA, and they’re on the hunt for a Senior Flight Software Engineer to join their fast-growing team in Irvine. If you’re into cutting-edge tech, complex systems, and building software that actually goes to space, then this one’s worth your time. Let’s cut to the chase—this role isn’t just about writing good code (though, that’s a big part of it). The team needs someone who gets flight software, ideally someone who’s been there and done it in the aerospace world. Bonus points if you've led a team or mentored junior engineers—leadership chops are highly valued here. Security Clearance: You must have, or be eligible to obtain, Secret or TS/SCI clearance. This is non-negotiable. Flight Software experience: If you’ve worked hands-on with flight SW, we’re talking your language. General aerospace or embedded system backgrounds will also be considered. Technical Stack: Strong in Embedded C on Linux —this is the bread and butter here. Frameworks: Experience with CFS or FPrime is a huge indicator of fit. Mentorship/Leadership: If you’ve led teams, coached others, or helped build out tech strategy—amazing. They want people who help level up the room. What You’ll Be Doing: Design, build, and rigorously test robust flight software for embedded systems that are going into real missions. Develop and run detailed test plans covering everything from functional and regression to performance and integration. Contribute to automated testing frameworks using tools like GTest or CppUnit . Troubleshoot and resolve complex software/hardware integration issues. Collaborate tightly with systems, avionics, and mission teams to deliver high-reliability solutions. Own your work, influence how things are done, and help shape best practices across the software lifecycle. You’ll Thrive Here If You: Have 5+ years in embedded systems, preferably in aerospace or flight software. Understand the demands of high-reliability systems and love clean, efficient, and testable code. Want to work in a team where your ideas matter and you’re not just another cog in the wheel.
