TheDepartment of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the College ofEngineering (CoE) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has a tenure track facultyopening at the rank of Assistant Professor.

As part ofa premier research university situated in Virginia's capital city, VCU's ECEdepartment has bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs and collaboratesclosely with many VCU schools and departments including researchers on VCU'smedical campus. The department also has significant research projects with anumber of government agencies, industries, and other universities in areas suchas autonomous vehicles, cyber physical and safety critical systems, smartcities, and cybersecurity. VCU is a Carnegie-classified very high researchactivity university and is one of the top 100 universities in the U.S. infederal R&D expenditures. The CoE is in an extensivegrowth stage.Since 2008 it has doubledthe number of its faculty and is slated to open a state-of-the-art researchfacility in 2020. The ECE department currently has 20 tenure-track, tenured andterm faculty members.
Candidates should be qualifiedfor an appointment based on excellence in publication, funding and graduate andundergraduate teaching.
Requiredqualifications: Applicants must have a doctorate in electrical or computer engineering, or related field by the time of hire. The main areas of interests are RF and Microwave systems.

Preferred qualifications: Among other projects, several of the projectsunder the newly established center called Convergence Lab are funded by theDepartment of Defense, and as such, the candidate must have technical andadministrative abilities to perform research that are practiced by DoD R&D,and other duties such as mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Experiencein working on DoD projects is preferred. The candidate is sought in the areasof Radio Frequency and Microwave systems - both low and high frequency applicationsand Artificial Intelligence integrated RF/MW Systems.The candidate must have experience inmodeling, simulation, design, fabrication and testing of such systems.The candidate must have experience inteaching Electromagnetics, RF and Microwave courses both in undergraduate andgraduate level.
