Transport students on designated route. Ensure adherence to safety rules.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Follow safety rules as students' board and exit van or cross streets near stop.
• Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
• Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
• Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
• Report any malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
• Keep bus interiors clean for students.
• Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
• Make minor repairs to vehicles.

· Act calmly under stress and strain, and of not being hasty or impetuous.

· Exhibit a cheerful demeanor toward others.

Minimum Educational Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED
