SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director of Catering & Events is responsible for overseeing and managing all catered events for the company. This role spans various functions, including sales and marketing, budgeting, guest relations, menu planning, purchasing, and event logistics and coordination. A key responsibility of this role is to strengthen existing client relationships while proactively seeking new business opportunities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will work directly with Directors, General Managers, Chefs and Ownership to ensure that all events are executed to the requisite Quince & Co standards and operate in accordance with established budgetary goals.

 

Suitable candidates will have extensive experience with pre-event planning, event logistics and event execution. It is paramount that all candidates possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a highly organized and efficient manner as well as interface with both high profile individuals and organizations. Applicants should exhibit strong leadership qualities, a well-developed business acumen and a genuine hospitable nature. Excellent communication skills a must, oral and written. Fluency in Excel and Tripleseat a plus.

 
The scope and span of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  Sales & Marketing

• Develop new business opportunities and facilitates returning business to achieve revenue goals
• Develop contacts and maintain a tracking system to ensure on-going relationship with existing client base and the development of future clients
• Work alongside Marketing Director to develop plans to grow the business
• Maintain and develop all sales material and collateral pertaining to catered events

 

Financial Planning and Accountability

• Responsible for the financial cycle of all Quince & Co Events
• Maintain accurate financial records of all catering activities
• Develop budgets and financial forecasts to best evaluate resource needs and expenses
• Track sales to budgetary goals
• Create event pro-formas to control costs; labor, food, beverage based on overall budget
• Oversee departmental commissions and submit to accounting

 

Coordinate and execute catered events

• Ensure prompt responses are given to all incoming event inquiries
• Attend site visits
• Coordinate rental orders and third-party vendor orders
• Maintain and recruit an active roster of independent contractors and staff offsite events accordingly
• Oversee load in / load out of offsite events and schedules
• Day-of execution/management
• Uphold Quince & Co company practices and standards regarding quality of products and services
• Adhere to established safety and sanitation standards

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years experience in luxury hospitality, specifically in events and catering
• This role requires on-site presence in our SF office and event sites
• Strong management and communication skills
