Job Title: Digital Marketing & Audience Development Director

Location: Maui-based preferred (hybrid/remote considered)

Employment Type: Full-time, exempt

Compensation: $65,000-$74,000 with bonus potential

Maui Nō Ka ʻOi Magazine/Flagship Publishing is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Digital Marketing & Audience Development Director to elevate the digital presence of our award-winning regional magazines. This is a unique opportunity to both create engaging content immediately and build a digital marketing system that drives long-term growth across multiple states and brands.

The ideal candidate blends creative execution with strategic thinking - skilled at producing compelling social media content while developing CRM systems, sales funnels and scalable workflows. A strong sense of community focus is essential with a commitment to serving and engaging regional audiences in ways that reflect the culture and values of the places we represent. This person will bring stamina, initiative and resilience, collaborating closely with company leadership to ensure alignment and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a clear, consistent brand voice across all digital platforms.
  • Report regularly to leadership to align digital efforts with business goals.
  • Stay current with digital marketing trends, recommending innovations as needed.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to ensure digital strategies support print and ad sales.

Phase 1: (First 3-6 months)

  • Create and post high volumes of compelling social media content across platforms.
  • Repurpose magazine stories into digital-first formats (posts, Reels, videos).
  • Spotlight advertisers and community partners.
  • Manage posting schedules and engagement.
  • Track metrics and adjust for growth.
  • Develop new content to engage both regional and global audiences.

Phase 2: (6-12 months and ongoing)

  • Lead CRM implementation (HubSpot or similar).
  • Develop sales funnels and lead-generation systems.
  • Build and implement a comprehensive digital strategy (social, email, web, affiliate programs).
  • Oversee website content strategy; enhance site structure, functionality and user experience; collaborate with developers on major upgrades and new initiatives.
  • Hire and manage freelance or in-house content creators across states.

Phase 3: (12 months and beyond)

  • Expand digital products and services (e.g., affiliate partnerships, membership models, digital-exclusive content, mobile apps, regional guides, podcasts, community forums and in-person/virtual/hybrid events).
  • Build cross-brand collaborations and integrated campaigns.
  • Implement advanced analytics and audience segmentation.
  • Scale digital team structure and workflows.
  • Lead innovation to stay ahead of digital trends.
  • Monitor and revise best practices and metrics.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing and refining brand voice across digital channels.
  • Digital marketing agency background is a plus, especially with multi-brand or multi-client work.
  • 5+ years of digital marketing experience (media/publishing preferred).
  • Strong ability to create social content (Reels, stories, basic design).
  • Excellent writing and visual storytelling skills.
  • Solid grasp of email marketing, CRM systems and sales funnel building (HubSpot a plus).
  • Experience managing website content, SEO, performance optimization, user experience and collaboration with web developers.
  • Self-starter with project and team leadership skills.
  • Strong analytics and reporting abilities, including developing key performance metrics and project budgets.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with affiliate or sponsored content programs.
  • Video editing (CapCut, InShot, Adobe Premiere).
