About the RoleAs a Dental Assistant, you’ll support our dentist with various tasks to ensure each patient’s visit is comfortable, efficient, and successful. From preparing instruments, setting up exam rooms, taking X-rays, and assisting during procedures, you’ll be an important part of our patient care team.
Key Responsibilities•Prepare for appointments by reviewing charts and setting up rooms before patients arrive
•Assist with patient care, including taking X-rays, applying topical agents, and setting up for various procedures
•Support the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments and helping with four-handed dentistry techniques
•Record patient details like treatment notes and recommendations, and ensure all information is accurate before patient dismissal
•Help maintain a clean and organized workspace by following OSHA protocols, cleaning and reprocessing instruments, and stocking supplies
•Assist with lab tasks and other duties as designated by the supervisor to keep our office running smoothly
Job Requirements•Education: High school diploma or equivalent
•Experience: Six months in a dental setting is preferred, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person!
•Certifications: Must obtain CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Maine Dental Radiographer License before achieving “Regular Employee” status
Physical Requirements
•This position involves some physical tasks, such as:
•Assisting with patient transfers and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds
•Sitting for extended periods and performing repetitive movements
•Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) during your shift to maintain safety standards for you and our patients
