Position Summary: The Project Accountant will be responsible for project specific accounting functions, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billings, Assignments include initiation of, or participation in various projects, including researching information, providing analysis, and compiling data to convey relevant information.
Primary Responsibilities: - Set up and maintain project budgets and contracts in the accounting system.
- Review project contracts for compliance and accuracy.
- Process and track change orders, billings, and job cost adjustments.
- Approve subcontractor and supplier invoices related to projects.
- Monitor project costs, identify variances, and report potential overruns.
- Prepare and submit monthly invoices (T&M and fixed-price).
- Track accounts receivable, retention, and follow up on collections.
- Maintain documentation for OCIP/CCIP projects and lien waivers.
- Assist with Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and job closeouts.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Project Managers, Estimators, Field Staff) and external stakeholders (vendors, clients).
- Ensure compliance with company accounting standards and procedures.
- Occasionally visit job sites to support project financial tracking.
- Ensure project performance compliance with company standards.

- All other duties as assigned and required
Required Qualifications: - Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Superior communication skills written and verbal
- Ability to work on a team and build working relationships within all levels of the organization
- Possesses a math aptitude and understands basic accounting principles
- Adept in use of MS Office and aptitude for learning ERP systems
Education and Experience: - Associates degree in Accounting
- 2-3 years of construction accounting experience preferred.
- Additional education considered in place of experience.
