Job Description

This "Project Structural Engineer" role is a key team member for a top steel structure manufacturer in the greater Grand Rapids area. This is a Structural Designer role with project responsibilities

* This is a hybrid role with up to 3 out of 5 days a week as remote once training period is over.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for creating detailed structural designs and plans for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
2. Engineering and pricing of steel structures
3. Collaborating with the design community
4. Define project scopes
5. Research and communicate project-specific technical solutions
6. Set realistic expectations and project timelines
7. Communicating with local sales reps; answering questions and providing questions as required
8. Reviewing work of less experienced engineers and providing constructive feedback
9. Working with other departments to improve internal processes

Education and/or Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
2. 2 years (minimum) experience in structural engineering
3. E.I.T. designation

Other Requirements

1. Familiarity with structural analysis software
2. Demonstrated ability in MS Office, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
3. Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes
4. Originality and judgement in the independent evaluation of new applications and products
5. Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications
