The Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment while also leading the engineering team. This position requires the Chief Engineer to be on-site. Schedule: 7am-4pm (flexible) Monday through Friday, on-call rotation. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems; supervising and managing engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching and personal development; creating and routinely updating a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures; participating regularly in client-facing and property team communications; leading, creating and managing engineering budget and participating in overall operating budget process; assisting in the development of a capital improvement plan; selecting, scheduling, supervising and directing contractors; monitoring and documenting performance; responding effectively to emergencies and service calls; leading and organizing ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures; and other duties as requested by property management team and/or client. Requirements include 7+ years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or similar; people management experience; trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable; Universal CFC EPA certification; experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams); ability to lift up to 50 lbs; comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall; ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive; strong customer service and communication skills.
